Thank you so much for your absolutely gorgeous flowers at our wedding this weekend. Everyone commented on how amazing they were, and it was exactly what we wanted! – L+T
With spring’s arrival and nature bursting into life, I’m reminded of one of the brightest, most joyous weddings I’ve ever worked on.
A Special Venue: Bore Place in the Kent Countryside
L + T found me through a mutual friend after booking Bore Place, a venue close to my heart (and home). Nestled in the Kentish countryside near Sevenoaks, Bore Place is a 500-acre organic farm and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Their eco-friendly ethos is just one of the many reasons I love working here.
Locally Sourced Blooms for a Sustainable Wedding
With a strong desire to match this approach, I sourced the majority of the flowers from a local flower grower. L + T got married in The Hide, Bore Place’s very own secret garden, with benches handmade from Bore Place oak, perfect for outdoor ceremonies!
A Soft, Romantic Floral Palette for a Spring Wedding
They carried bouquets of organic English summer blooms—peonies, roses, trailing jasmine, and butterfly ranunculus—perfectly capturing Bore Place’s country garden charm. The rest of the flowers I sourced through a trip to New Covent Garden Flower Market in London.
Their chosen color palette consisted of soft whites, pinks, blush, apricot, and peach, which was perfect for the time of year and truly complemented Bore Place’s beautiful estate.
The Unforgettable Energy Wedding Celebration
Now enough about the gorgeous location, I have to tell you about this equally beautiful couple and their day. From our first conversation, T + L’s warmth and easygoing nature shone through—and their wedding reflected it perfectly.
Bore Place is perfect for this kind of couple as the estate is yours for the whole weekend, meaning they stayed at the venue with friends and family the night before.
Setting Up the Wedding Florals at Bore Place
Once we finished the ceremony area, we moved over to set up the marquee, while the ceremony took place. There is a special kind of joy in a same-sex wedding.
Despite my wicked sense of humor (and infamous cackle), I’m a soppy softy at heart. I have never heard so much whooping and cheering during a ceremony—I almost wondered if the Spice Girls had suddenly turned up!
Floristry means early mornings—tough for a self-confessed night owl like me! But this time, I luxuriated in a 9 AM start, still giving me time to dress The Hide’s ceremony pillars at a leisurely pace.
I arrived with my longtime florist friend Moira, and my doting partner Simon, who, as a professional photographer (check him out here!) and a great carrier of heavy items, I insist on accompanying me to all big wedding installs.
The Energy of the Ceremony & Floral Installations
The cheering began as the couple each made their way up the aisle and continued throughout the ceremony. Far from being an interruption to the typical poised and refined exchanging of vows, these screams were full of exhilarating encouragement, and honestly gave me goosebumps as I put together my marquee meadows—I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed some tears.
Once I managed to compose myself, we moved into the house to set up the bud vases, where the party would later on be taking place.
You can see the joy captured so wonderfully by L + T’s own photographer, Che Birch-Hayes, who was so lovely to work with and similarly captured my florals so beautifully—thank you, Che!
And thank you L + T for having faith in me to contribute to your special day and for reminding me how lucky I am to work with nature’s finest!
